George GILES died in New Zealand while contracting there with his sons. He is thought to have died of pneumonia following measles. Susan Faux has found that his death was reported in the Creswick Advertiser in 1915 and the burial record has now been located. George GILES died 18 May 1915 aged 60 yrs, Farmer, buried 19 May 1915 Ashburton Cemetery (SW of Christchurch) Wesleyan Methodist Area 120, Plot 11. The celebrant was Rev W J Elliot.
DEATH. GILES - On the 18th of May 1915 at Ashburton Hospital, New Zealand, Mr George Giles Snr, late of Creswick, beloved father of George, Alfred, Albert, Mrs W White, Newlyn and Miss Alice Giles, North Creswick, aged 62 years. A patient sufferer at rest.

For the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour, Mrs A SEDERY stated that her husband was born at Macallam's (McCallum's) Creek, Victoria, that the town he was chiefly associated with was Avoca, Victoria and that he was a Farmer. Her address was Boyerine Via Woodanilling WA [http://www.awm.gov.au/cms_images/awm131/044/044499.pdf] Woodanilling is a small town at the Round Pool on the Boyerine River, 252 km south of Perth on the road to Albany. Woodanilling is 25 km from Katanning.
