E.W. VON MYLIUS

The Sterling Soap Works, off Lydiard-street north, illustrated elsewhere in this book, have been recently erected by the proprietor, E.W. von Mylius, with the latest improvements in plant. Cleanliness is a feature of the establishment and great care is exercised in the branding and packing of the goods. The manufacturing department is under the special supervision of the proprietor, who, after sixteen years' experience in the colonies, is confident that he can give satisfaction in offering to the public a soap firm and pure in quality, almost non-shrinking, suitable for hard water, hot or cold. He claims that it has a free lather, unsurpassed for cleansing properties, and that the labour of washing clothes is considerably lightened, if the recipe of 'washing made easy' is followed.
'Sterling soaps' are sold in three qualities - white, golden and brown. White contains glycerine and borax, and is specially adapted for the toilet. Golden, for an all-round soap, and is said to be excellent. It is done up in pink wrappers, neatly printed by one of the local firms, containing special directions for use. It is sold at a price within the reach of everyone, and can be obtained from all grocers.
The brown soap from this factory is specially recommended for kitchen use, for dirty hands, etc., and as a boon to miners, is wonderful value at 3d. a bar.
Farmers and the public generally are advised that it is to their advantage to bring their tallow to the 'Sterling' Soap Works, where cash or soap is given in exchange. The highest market price is guaranteed.
All orders by post or otherwise are promptly attended to, small profits, quick returns, being the principle on which the proprietor trades.
