Samuel WIGGINS was in the guard of more British Royal Marines under the command of Lieutenant Governor David Collins RM on HMS Calcutta which sailed from Spithead, London on 25 Apr 1803 via the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth with convicts and settlers. With the supply ship Ocean they made a landing on 9 Oct 1903 inside the heads at Port Phillip, Bass Strait in the Colony of New South Wales. This first settlement in what was known as Victoria from 1851, at Sorrento, was abandoned after four months in favour of a site on the River Derwent in Van Diemen's Land where Hobart was founded in 1804.

Susannah was one of fifteen women reported to be aboard HMS Calcutta along with 21 children.
