COALTON OF BALGONIE
A Man Found Dead. - On the morning of Tuesday this week, about seven o'clock, when some workmen were going to their work, they discovered on the east side of the railway embankment to the north of this, and a little to the south of Sythrum farm, the lifeless body of a man named Sparks, who had resided in this place for sometime back.
Deceased was seen in Markinch on Monday evening in a state of inebriation, and it appears, when on his way home from Markinch to Coaltown of Balgonie, he had gone along the railway line, and had possibly stumbled and fallen forward on the pailing which fences in the railway, when his chin was caught by one of the bars that compass the fence. He had in all likelihood been strangled, his head was through between two bars, while his hands were leaning on an under bar, with another under his chin. Such a case affords a striking illustration of the evils that flow from inebriety.

MARKINCH
Man Killed. - An individual of the name of Sparks, employed in planting hedges and fences along the railway line, was found dead at the foot of the embankment to the south of Sythrum, on the morning of Tuesday week. The deceased had left Markinch about eight o'clock in the night previous, somewhat the worse of liquor, and it is supposed had stumbled down the side of the embankment and had fallen upon an upright post of the paling with his forehead with such force as to have terminated his existence. The stroke must at once have proved fatal, as there was no appearance of any struggle having been made.
