In 1854 Ann gave her birthplace as Cross Keys and in 1856 as Cross Keys, Dunfermline. It seems that 'Crosskeys' was a small place near Crossgates on the eastern fringe of Dunfermline which would be the nearest major town on the Firth of Forth, Fife, Scotland.
