Hank Jones in The Palatine Families of Ireland (2nd Edition) p83 says Peter MICK (MICH) married 29 Dec 1807 Elisa SHOEMAKER at Nantinan.
Peter and Elizabeth MICK immigrated to Canada in 1861. (Descendant is Heather Jakobsen)
The MICH family appears on the Rotterdam sailing lists in the 3rd party of Palatines to arrive in 1709. Hendrig MINK, his wife and 4 chn were listed with Hans Hendrig MINK, his wife and 5 chn. Hank Jones believes that the latter entry was for Hans Friederich MICK. Both were husbandmen and vinedressers. Men of this surname were listed in the Groves Papers as being on the Southwell Estate in Co. Limerick and they were freeholders at Ballingrane. The Nantinan Churchbook lists Mick burials, marriages and christenings up to 1818. [HJ p82-3]
Patrick O'Connor says that a Peter MICK was on a 1776 list of freeholders at Pallas, nr Ballycahane. Several Palatine families had migrated north from the parent colony at Ballingrane, still in Co. Limerick. [People Make Places p53-4]
